Short answer

Guides put a new concrete driveway at $65–$85 per m² for plain concrete and $100–$150 per m² for exposed aggregate. A typical 40 m² double driveway takes 2–4 days on site. You can walk on it the next day and drive on it after about 7 days.

What changes the price

  • Removing the old driveway. Breaking out concrete or pavers and taking it away adds labour and tip fees.
  • Access. If the truck can't reach the pour, we pump or barrow the concrete in.
  • Slope and levels. Steep blocks need more formwork and careful falls so water drains away from the garage.
  • Finish. Exposed and honed finishes take more steps than a broom finish.
  • Thickness and steel. Heavier vehicles like caravans and boats need a thicker slab and heavier mesh.
  • The crossover. The strip from your boundary to the road is on council land and needs its own approval.

Choosing a finish

Exposed aggregate is the most popular choice on the Gold Coast. It grips in the wet, hides tyre marks and suits most homes. Coloured and sealed concrete suits modern facades. Plain concrete is the budget option. See all five side by side in the finish guide .

How a driveway job runs

  • Day 1: demolition, excavation and base compaction.
  • Day 2: formwork set to string lines, reinforcing mesh on chairs, falls checked.
  • Pour day: pour, screed, finish, then cut the control joints.
  • Handover: clean-up, skips removed, and curing instructions for you.

FAQ

Driveway questions we get every week.

How much does a concrete driveway cost on the Gold Coast?
Published guides put plain concrete at about $65–$85 per m², coloured at $75–$95, and exposed aggregate at $100–$150. Sloping blocks add around $10 per m². Removing an old driveway, access and pumping all change the final price.
How long does a new driveway take?
Most residential driveways take two to four days on site: a day for demolition and excavation, a day for formwork and mesh, and pour day. You can walk on it the next day and drive on it after about seven days.
Is exposed aggregate better than plain concrete?
Exposed aggregate grips better, hides tyre marks and dirt, and suits most Gold Coast homes. Plain concrete costs less and is fine for side paths and sheds. Both need the same base preparation.
Do I need council approval?
Work inside your boundary usually doesn't. The crossover between your boundary and the road is on council land, so it needs approval from the City of Gold Coast, Logan City Council or Brisbane City Council. Read our crossover approval guide. Confirm whether Josh lodges the application.
Can you remove my old driveway?
Yes. We break out and remove old concrete or pavers, dispose of it, and prepare the base before the new pour. It's itemised on your quote.
How do I look after a new driveway?
Keep heavy vehicles off it for the first few weeks, hose it down rather than pressure-cleaning it hard, and reseal decorative finishes every few years to protect the colour.
