Concreters for Burleigh, Palm Beach and the southern Gold Coast.

Exposed aggregate driveways, beachside paths, pool surrounds and hillside stairs from Robina and Varsity Lakes down to Coolangatta. Coastal homes need concrete that copes with salt air, sandy ground and steep blocks.

Short answer

Yes, we cover the southern Gold Coast to the NSW border. Beachside it's mostly exposed aggregate driveways, paths and pool surrounds, sealed against salt air. In the hills behind Currumbin, Tallebudgera and Elanora it's stairs, landings and retaining on steep blocks.

Concrete by the beach

From Miami to Coolangatta, most blocks are on sand. Sand drains quickly and barely moves, which is good for slabs. The challenges are on the surface:

  • Salt air. Salt doesn't hurt good concrete, but it gets into weak surfaces and rusts steel that sits too close to the top. We keep the mesh on chairs with proper cover, and we recommend a penetrating sealer on decorative finishes near the water.
  • Sand underfoot. Beach sand on a smooth finish is slippery. Exposed aggregate, or a broom or grit finish, gives grip on paths and pool surrounds.
  • Narrow beach lots. Older Palm Beach, Tugun and Bilinga blocks often have tight side access. We barrow or pump where the truck can't reach, and plan the pour so it doesn't block the street for long.

Hillside blocks

Currumbin Valley, Tallebudgera, Elanora and the Burleigh hinterland have steep driveways and long flights of stairs. That work needs:

  • A pump to place concrete where a truck chute won't reach.
  • Drainage behind steps and retaining walls, so water doesn't build up and push them out.
  • Grip on steep driveways. A broom or exposed finish across the slope, never a smooth trowelled finish.
  • Even risers, so a long flight feels safe to walk. Our floating and lit stairs are on the gallery page.

Robina and Varsity Lakes

Inland, it's townhouse complexes and family homes. Body corporates book us for path and driveway repairs, and homeowners replace tired 1990s driveways with exposed aggregate. Older Robina and Mudgeeraba estates can be on clay rather than sand, so we check before we set the slab thickness.

Licence and border: we're licensed by the QBCC (1301879), so we work up to Coolangatta and the border. Work in NSW, including Tweed Heads, needs a NSW licence.

Southern Gold Coast FAQ

Common questions.

Does salt air damage concrete near the beach?
Salt doesn't hurt a well-made slab with enough cover over the steel. It does dull finishes and attack poor-quality or thin concrete over time. Near the beach we make sure the mesh sits on chairs with proper cover, and we recommend sealing decorative finishes and resealing every few years.
Can you build stairs on a steep block?
Yes. Hillside stairs, landings and retaining are a regular job for us. Steep sites usually need a concrete pump, more formwork and drainage behind the steps, and we plan all of that at the site visit.
Do you work over the border in Tweed Heads?
Our licence is with the QBCC, so we work up to Coolangatta and the border. Work in New South Wales needs a NSW licence.
